Rishabh Pant Breaks Virender Sehwag’s Record for Most Sixes by an Indian in Test Cricket
Rishabh Pant made history on Day 2 of the first Test between India and South Africa at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, by surpassing Virender Sehwag’s record for the most sixes by an Indian in Test cricket. Pant reached his 92nd six in just his 83rd innings, overtaking Sehwag’s previous total of 91 sixes.
Batting at No. 5, Pant scored 27 runs off 24 balls, including two fours and two sixes. Both sixes came off spinner Keshav Maharaj in the 38th and 42nd overs. His first six cleared mid-off, while the second was a massive hit over long-on, energizing the Eden Gardens crowd.
Pant’s innings ended in the 44th over when he was dismissed by Corbin Bosch, gloving a pull shot to the wicketkeeper. Despite the dismissal, Pant’s aggressive batting and record-breaking feat made him the seventh-highest six-hitter in Test cricket history.
This milestone highlights Pant’s attacking approach and cements his status as one of India’s most dynamic middle-order batters in modern Test cricket
