Venkatesh Prasad To Become KSCA President Unopposed

Venkatesh Prasad

Venkatesh Prasad is set to assume the role of president of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) unopposed, following the approval of his nomination for the December 7 elections. The former India pacer’s ascent comes after the nomination of KN Shanth Kumar was rejected on technical grounds and Kalpana Venkatachar withdrew from the contest, clearing the path for Prasad’s leadership.

Venkatesh Prasad Elected KSCA President Unopposed

During the screening of nominations, Prasad’s candidacy received the green light from electoral officer Dr. B Basavaraju IAS (Retd). A statement from KSCA confirmed, “With this development, Venkatesh Prasad B.K. is now poised to be elected unopposed to the post of President.”

The scrutiny of nominations was conducted under the supervision of retired High Court judge Justice Subhash B Adi, ensuring a transparent electoral process.

Former Cricketers Join KSCA Committee Elections

Other notable former cricketers also received approval for positions within the KSCA. Sujith Somasundar, previously head of education at the BCCI Centre of Excellence, is contesting for Vice-President and Secretary, while Avinash Vaidya is seeking the posts of Joint Secretary and Managing Committee member.

Prasad’s election marks a continuation of experienced cricketing leadership in the association, as he previously served as vice-president under Anil Kumble’s tenure when Javagal Srinath held the secretary’s position.

Prasad’s Vision and Cricket Administration Experience

With a storied international career and prior administrative experience, Venkatesh Prasad is expected to bring strategic leadership to Karnataka cricket. His tenure as KSCA vice-president saw initiatives in grassroots development and nurturing young talent, and his presidency is anticipated to focus on strengthening domestic cricket infrastructure in the state.

Upcoming KSCA Elections and Expectations

The KSCA elections on December 7 are closely watched by players, fans, and cricket administrators alike. With Prasad assuming the presidency unopposed, attention now turns to the committee roles, which include several former cricketers aiming to shape the future of cricket administration in Karnataka.

Sujith Somasundar and Avinash Vaidya, both with professional experience and cricketing backgrounds, are expected to complement Prasad’s leadership, ensuring continuity and development within KSCA programs.

Venkatesh Prasad’s Legacy in Indian Cricket

Venkatesh Prasad is remembered as one of India’s finest fast bowlers of the 1990s, contributing significantly to the national team’s successes. His transition into cricket administration represents a growing trend of former players taking on leadership roles to foster the next generation of talent.
