Shaheen Afridi Pakistan Sri Lanka Series Message
Shaheen Afridi Pakistan Sri Lanka series — Newly appointed Pakistan ODI captain Shaheen Afridi has urged his team to maintain their winning momentum ahead of the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka, starting Tuesday in Rawalpindi.
Shaheen Afridi’s Focus on Consistency
After leading Pakistan to a 2-1 series victory over South Africa — his first as ODI captain — Afridi emphasized the need for consistency and teamwork.
“The win against South Africa gave us great confidence,” Afridi told ICC. “The energy, intent, and teamwork were outstanding. Going into the Sri Lanka series, our goal is to carry that momentum forward and keep improving in every department.”
Respect for Sri Lanka’s Challenge
Afridi praised the visitors’ discipline and skill, stressing that Pakistan must “play smart cricket” to succeed. “Sri Lanka are a disciplined side and always challenge you with their skills. We’ll need to stay positive and stick to our plans,” he said.
Leadership and Team Accountability
The 24-year-old skipper also called for shared responsibility within the squad, noting that success should not depend solely on senior players. “It’s not just my job or Babar’s — everyone must take responsibility. We should back those who are struggling and perform as a unit,” Afridi added.
Pakistan’s squad features a mix of experience and youth, including Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Rizwan, and rising talents Saim Ayub and Abrar Ahmed.
