Some members of the team reportedly sought to return home ahead of the second ODI in Rawalpindi, but the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) board intervened to keep the tour on track.

The blast in Islamabad heightened unease among players, particularly because the matches are being held in Rawalpindi — only a short distance away. According to reports, “at least eight members” of the team contacted management to return home citing safety concerns.

SLC confirmed they engaged with the touring party and Pakistani authorities and issued a statement instructing all players and support staff to stay. They warned that any departures against this directive would prompt immediate replacements and a formal review.

Following the ODI series, Sri Lanka are scheduled to participate in a T20I tri-series in Pakistan (November 17–29), featuring Zimbabwe. The board stressed that the tour must continue uninterrupted, despite the security worries.
Pakistan’s Interior Minister, who also heads the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), reportedly is actively coordinating the team’s safety arrangements.
